Staying Connected

Alumni Community

There are many ways to remain connected with the Olmsted alumni community. In fact, with all of Olmsted’s social media accounts and Scholar events, it’s never been easier to stay engaged with the Foundation and fellow Scholars no matter where you are.

Social Media and Newsletter

A great way to stay connected with the Olmsted Foundation is through our social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Linkedin. Regular updates include the latest news on the Foundation, Scholar events and personal stories from Scholars all over the world.

Scholars can also catch up with the Foundation and one another through the quarterly Olmsted Foundation newsletter. The newsletter features messages from the Olmsted Foundation leadership and highlights recent Foundation events, awards and Scholar trips.

Scholar Gatherings

One of the highlights of the year comes on the first Saturday of June as we reunite with fellow Scholars and meet the latest Olmsted Scholar Class at the Annual Meeting, Reunion and Reception in Washington, DC, hosted by the Olmsted Foundation. Held at the Society of Cincinnati’s Anderson House, Foundation leadership gives attending Scholars up-to-date Foundation news, presents awards and often features guest speakers.

Scholar assemblies and smaller informal gatherings also occur across the country in places like San Diego, the Pacific Northwest and Colorado Springs throughout the year. Many of these events are organized by the Scholars and are a great way to connect with Scholars outside of the Annual Meeting, Reunion and Reception.

Light the Night Walk

The Olmsted Foundation and its Scholars have joined together for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk event to honor the memory of three Scholars who have succumbed either from Leukemia or Lymphoma: Brigadier General Tony Smith (OSC ’62), Colonel Robert Yablonski (OSC ’80) and Captain Steve Murphy (OSC ’96).

In 2020, the Olmsted Foundation sponsored a team made up of numerous Scholars, friends and family for the event’s virtual walk and raised over $17,000.

If you’d like to participate in this year’s Light the Night Walk event with fellow Olmsted Scholars, it takes place on Friday, October 15th at Reston Town Center.  Refer to the Light the Night page under “What’s New” on this website, or contact the Olmsted Foundation for further information.
